He said that as a fashion designer he came back from Lagos to coordinate the activities of artisans in Okpanam and by extension Oshimili North, stressing that he conducted an election so as to have a leadership framework for the association in the area.
Kanene stated that one Mr. Abua and Mrs. Ngozi Omunizua were the chairman and vice chairman of the association respectively in Oshimili North, adding that based on his efforts and contributions towards the growth and development of the association he was bestowed with excellent leadership award by the association.
He recalled that the former chairman and vice chairman of the association supported him to become the chairman after their tenure.
Kanene, who is also the State Secretary of the Association, reaffirmed the determination of his leadership to tackle quackery in the field and stressed the need for artisans to join union for their own benefits.
He said that every tailor in Oshimili North should register in his office, noting that whenever they were in one body they could learn more from each other especially different designs in their field .
He commended the association of artisans for the honour while assuring them that he would carry them along in the scheme of things .
