
The authorities of Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, have been commended for the significant strides the institution has made since it was established.
The Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, gave the commendation during a guided tour of the University recently.
Asagba Prof Azinge emphasized the significance of the University as the first and only one of its kind in Asaba, stressing the need for individual and collective contributions to the success of the institution.
His Royal Majesty reiterated his commitment to supporting the University’s growth, saying that his visit was to identify with the University in demonstration of the willingness of the community to collaborate with the authorities to drive the institution’s development.
The highly esteemed and influential traditional ruler said with 400 hectares of land, Dennis Osadebay University had immense potential for growth and development, adding that the land could accommodate the infrastructure needs of both approved and proposed courses
He promised to defend the University against encroachment given the history of land disputes in the area, even as he advised the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ben Oghojafor and his management team to explore innovative ways to utilize the excess land to further enhance the University’s value.
The Monarch suggested that the University could invest in real estate development
agriculture and farming
tourism centers, research and development centers, among others.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Ben Oghojafor, who received and conducted Asagba Prof Azinge and his entourage round the facilities, said it was a great honour and privilege to have him visit the institution, pointing out that the visit marked a significant moment of engagement between the Asagba and the institution, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual understanding.
Prof Oghojafor ceased the opportunity to enlighten HRM on the institution’s mission and vision statements, as well as the significance of the colors featured in the University’s logo.
The guided tour took the Asagba to the Lecture Theatre, Main Auditorium, Faculty of Science/Laboratories (Ongoing Project), Faculty of Law (Ongoing Project), Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Environmental Science, Faculty of Behavioral Science and Sports Hostel.
