Governor Oborevwori Presents Staff of Office to Issele Mkpitime Monarch, Charges him To Pay Attention To Security.
Oborevwori Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has called on traditional rulers to give security priority attention in their domains and work closely with security agencies and the local government council authorities to secure lives and property.
Governor Oborevwori stated this during the presentation of staff of office to Sunday Ubaka Ogboli as the Obi of Issele Mkpitime Kingdom in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
The governor represented by the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme who congratulated the Obi of Issele Mkpitime,Obi Sunday Ubaka Ogboli on his as ascension to the throne said peace and security remained the first priority and objective for existence in any organized society.
He commended the people of Issele Mkpitime for the peaceful manner in which they handled the succession process for the Obi and urged them to rally round the monarch to make him succeed.
Governor Oborevwori advised the people to give the Obi the respect , honour and cooperation he requires to carry out his traditional duty being the custodian of the tradition and customs of the kingdom.
The governor noted that the degree of esteem a monarch enjoyed was a reflection of the respect his people accord him and urged the Obi of Issele Mkpitime to be fair, just and equitable in his actions to make his reign peaceful.
According to him, the traditional institution was the closest to the grassroot hence the state government was forging partnership with royal fathers to give the people a sense of belonging and governance.
Governor Oborevwori appealed to the Obi of Issele Mkpitime to discharge his responsibilities to his people with love,honesty, transparency,fairness and the fear of God .
The governor assured that their requests for the fencing of the Okalete Secondary School, Issele Mkpitime and construction of the 7km Issele-Mkpitime- Idumu-Ogo road, 6 km Issele Mkpitime -Atuma and the 7.5km Issele Mkpitime – Otulu road would be channeled to the appropriate government agency for action.
The Chairman of the Aniocha North Local Government Council, Honourable Bazim Chinye said the presentation of staff of office to the Obi of Issele Mkpitime marked the end of another long process of ascension to the ancient throne of Issele Mkpitime Kingdom.
He said Issele Mkpitime operated a republican system of traditional government known as Okpala -Bu- Is which was based on the principle of rotation of the Obiship stool amongst the Okpala title holders in the community irrespective of age and background.
He urged traditional rulers to uphold the the principles of justice and fairness in the discharge of their duties to their people and thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the approval of the Staff of offie.
The President General, Issele Mkpitime Federal Union,Mr Oge Okwuka thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for making the day a reality in their lives and appealed for government’s attention on the need for the fencing of Okalete Secondary School,Issele Mkpitime and the construction of the 7km Issele-Mkpitime- Idumu-Ogo,the 6km Issele Mkpitime Atuma and the 7.5 km Issele Mkpitime -Otulu roads .
